The SBA said “Denied” – Now What?

May,21,2021
| By: Carl Falletta

If your COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) application was denied by the Small Business Administration (SBA), you still have an opportunity to request that the application be reconsidered. The reconsideration process has been a successful strategy for many applicants, but you will need to have a detailed reconsideration package.

Applicants interested in submitting a follow-up request can send an email to pdcrecons@sba.gov, or mail a letter requesting reconsideration and any supporting documents.

SBA Mailing Address:

U.S. Small Business Administration

Disaster Assistance

Processing & Distribution Center

14925 Kingsport Road

Fort Worth, Texas 76155

In addition to summarizing the cause for denial and including a reason why the SBA should reconsider your request, you should include the following information:

  • Application or loan number
  • Borrower name
  • Business name and address
  • Tax ID, employer identification number, or Social Security number
  • Copy of most recent business tax returns prior to the pandemic, with schedules included
  • Signed and completed IRS form 4506-T
  • Copy of voided check from the business bank account

Be sure to include up-to-date contact information as well. If you have any questions regarding the reconsideration process, contact 1-800-659-2955 or (TTY) (800) 877-8339.

Good luck!
