Since 2015, my focus has been on providing fractional CFO services to private companies in industries including manufacturing, distribution, real estate, construction, fintech and web application development.
I started my career in the accounting and audit division of Arthur Andersen & Co. I am a graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Previously, I held executive financial positions at mid-to-large companies including:
Jim and I worked together for more than a year at a St. Petersburg-based manufacturer. As part of the Executive and Strategy Team, we reported to the CEO and Board of Directors. During our tenure there, Jim exemplified superior professional competence in all areas of his assigned duties and other roles he stepped up as our business challenges developed. I consider him as a truly ‘proactive’ CFO. His financial forecasting abilities together with keen issue-spotting and correct analyses enabled our company to avert many potential impediments to our company transition which was accomplished efficiently and effectively. Jim was highly regarded by our private equity company, all of our C-level executives, and his many direct-reports. Jim also contributed his time and considerable expertise to develop the professional competencies of his key team members, ultimately resulting in meaningful promotions for several of those he trained.
Jim was diligent, insightful and supportive throughout a process that after several months led to a decision to seek a buyer for the Company. Jim played a 'quarterback' role in the sale process, including building the virtual data room, working closely with the bidders and the ultimate buyer, while providing information to transaction counsel and the Company Board in order to complete the transaction.
Jim is a forward-thinking financial expert. He was an instrumental team member during the rapid growth a small Florida homebuilding company into a major national player in the country. Jim's leadership and integrity make him a great asset to any company, group or team and I would not hesitate to be a part of his team again and/or recommend him to anyone. I worked with Jim for almost 10 years
Jim is a highly-talented professional who is a strong leader and manager. His strengths transcend several different functional areas. As one might expect from a CFO, his analytical abilities are exceptional but what really sets Jim apart are his critical thinking skills and his communication skills. In addition to leading the accounting, IT and investor relation functions, Jim played a crucial role in the company’s strategy and planning, and in communicating the company’s historical results and future plans to myriad audiences. The workload and responsibility Jim took on himself daily earned the respect of everyone who worked for him. Yet Jim knew how to empower and motivate his direct reports to take on responsibility for their own departments. I have worked with very few people that have demonstrated the skill, dedication, and honesty that Jim brought with him every day to his job.
Jim has impressed me over the years as a CFO who can be both detailed and strategic. He also has excellent interpersonal skills and is someone with whom I have preferred to work. He is smart, analytical, and thoughtful when presented with ideas. He is very driven and has great presentation skills. The knowledge he has gained while at WCI would be valuable to any publicly-held company that is dealing with complicated capital transactions.
